Abstract

Weihai is known as the city of gardens, the city of ports, and the city of tourism. It was named one of the 100 "World Model Cities for Environmental Protection" by a global organization of the United Nations. The way in which Weihai maintains the pace of its economic development and at the same time, protects environmental quality is an extremely valuable experience. Weihai's experience can be shared by other cities in China as well as by cities throughout the world.

Redmond, a small city situated in a Washington State suburb, has become the hometown of many of America's high-tech companies. How does this small city attract so many of the world's leading high-tech companies' headquarters, while at the same time, maintaining its high environmental standard?
This episode invites the Mayor of Weihai, Cui Yuechen, and the Mayor of Redmond, Rosemarie Ives, to discuss how a city can maintain high environmental standards while pushing forward in economical developments.
Ms.Rosemarie M. Ives, Mayor of Redmond

Redmond is considered America's most attractive city for two main reasons: one for its untamed environmental conditions, and another, for its vibrant economic activities.
