Abstract
Chen Feng is a co-founder of Hainan Airlines (HNA) and is now serving as the Board Chairman of HNA. He helped HNA to create many "firsts" in China's airline history. HNA is the first airline company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, the first company making profit in its first year of operation as well as the next five consecutive years. HNA is the first joint venture airline and first airline hiring foreign pilots.
Mr. Hideo Sawada studied in Europe in his early years. After returning to Japan, he was shocked by Japan's expensive airfares. Sawada established H.I.S. and made it a leading company in the discount fare market ever since. The company's business also expanded into hotel management, traveling services, and consulting in recent years. Its fixed asset reached 4.3 billion Yen with 2,500 employees. In 1996, Mr. Sawada set up an airline company called Skymark Airlines. It became the first private airline in Japan and pioneered discount ticketing in both domestic and international airline markets.
