Dedema was born in Inner Mongolia in 1947. In 1962 she was in the vocal music class of Inner Mongolian Art School for special training. In 1964, she entered China Vocal Music College majoring in vocal music.

Dedema comes from the Inner Mongolian grassland. The rich Mongolian cultures helped her to develop her unique voice. Thanks to the minority policies of the nation, she left the grassland and was given the opportunity to study in the best music college in Beijing and eventually became a famous singer.
