| Abstract |

|
|
The
"Reader" is one of the most widely circulated
magazines in China. It ranks the fourth
in circulation among magazines worldwide.
Its original name, "Reader's Digest', resulted
in a copyrights contest with the American
magazine "Reader's Digest.". In 1993, the
Chinese "Reader's Digest" decided to give
up its original name and change it to the
"Reader," ending the year-long legal dispute.
In
this episode,
Mr. Peng Changcheng, Editor-in-Chief of
the Chinese "Reader" and Mr. Tom Ryder,
Chairman and CEO of the American "Reader's
Digest," chat cheerfully through our two-way
satellite link. With mutual respect and
optimism, they discuss the cultural similarities
and differences between China and the U.S.
and envision a future of cooperation between
the two magazine giants.
